Treatment is a series of steps beginning with an at-home impression kit and ending with a retainer. Here is an overview of how Byte invisible aligners work. 

At-Home Impression Kit

It all starts with an impression kit, which Byte sends to your home. The kit contains trays which you will fill with a putty mixture and use to make impression of your teeth. The procedure takes a few minutes. After you make the impressions and the trays are filled with hardened putty, return the trays to Byte with free shipping.

Doctor-Approved Treatment Plan

Next, Byte’s care team examines the impressions you created with your at-home kit. Byte designs clear aligners for your dental needs and develops a personalized treatment plan. A licensed dentist or orthodontist approves the aligners and treatment plan and directs your care. Byte will email you 3-D images of your current smile and what your smile will look like at the end of treatment.

You will change aligner sets every week as your treatment progresses. Byte offers two treatment options:

• All-day aligners — you wear your invisible aligners 22 hours a day for as little as 4 months. You will have to remove the aligners before you eat or drink.
• At-night aligners — you wear your aligner for 10 hours every night for as little as 5 months.

HyperByte

In addition to wearing your invisible aligners, your treatment plan includes daily use of a device called HyperByte. FDA-approved HyperByte uses high-frequency vibration to gently seat your aligners close to your teeth. To use the HyperByte, hold the device between your teeth for 5 minutes, using the same gentle pressure as you would for smiling. HyperByte is included in the All-Day and At-Night treatment plans.

Continuation Aligners

When you start your treatment plan, you will receive 15 sets of aligners, one for each week. After week 15, Byte will send you sets of “continuation aligners” for the remaining weeks of your treatment plan. At Step 13, you will need to check in with your care team. If they decide that your treatment is progressing well, you will receive your continuation aligners. Otherwise, you may be instructed to continue using your current aligners or go back to a previous set.

Virtual Check-In

Since there are no office visits with Byte treatment plans, your progress will be monitored virtually. To ensure that your invisible aligners are working properly, you will have to upload check-in photos every 3 to 4 weeks. A green banner will display on your Account Center to remind you that it’s time for your check-in. The doctor-directed care team will review your photos to make sure that the aligners are working properly.

Your care team may decide that you should go back to the aligners for a previous Step. It’s important, therefore, to keep your aligners after you finish each Step.

Retainers

After you finish your All-Day or At-Night treatment plan, you should wear a retainer to prevent your teeth from slipping back to their original position. You only wear the retainer at night, and one retainer is designed to last for six months. If you enroll in the Byte Protection Plan, you will receive a new retainer every 6 months for 5 years.

The HyperByte device massages and soothes your mouth during your treatment plan. Aligners can cause some discomfort, especially in the early weeks of treatment. HyperByte can help make it easier to stay the course with your aligners.

Byte Protection Plan

When you enroll in the Byte Protection Plan, Byte will replace a lost or broken aligner or retainer for free. You don’t have to panic if you lose an aligner halfway through your treatment plan. While you’re waiting for the replacement, wear the aligner from the previous Step so that you won’t lose the progress you’ve made.
